Painting has become my daily job. It's a solitairy activity and the possibility to share my thoughts with you through the world wide web is one of the most incredible things in these modern times. So that's why I take this opportunity and show the painting process once a week. Fortunately I can say that thousands of people learn from these video's and for myself it's instructive too, because thoughts would dissapear if they would not have been spoken in a video.
71 Plein air or painting in the studio? What's the difference?
Many artists swear by plein air painting; in open air, outdoor. I do that regurarly in summertime. It brings me quick and simple solutions. It asks another approach.
In this video I start with a quick watercolorsketch at Kneuterdijk, 5 min from my studio in The Hague. The next day I will be working on a larger watercolor inside the studio of the Departement van Justitie, in The Hague as well.

70 The extraordinary in the ordinary
День тому
I remember the annoying visits at museums when I was a child. Standing in a row, waiting to get a glimpse of something everybody must see. There is a universal beauty, we all like. But artists find beauty in almost everything, they don't have to look for it. These weeks I'm working on a small series of Amsterdam. I am painting a different part than I do usually. Less known, but more interesting...
69 RISKING FAILURE
Of course I want the painting to succeed. But I can always start again, paper isn't that expensive. In this demonstration I show that I always try to be honest to what I see and HOW I look. It means that I have to work in a hurry here and there, I compare it to signing a signature. There are many rules for finding a good composition. But what is a composition and what's perfect? In my opinion it's more important to rely on a feeling. You feel it's right. 66 PAINTING THE LIGHT (by painting the dark)
In this watercolor demo you will see how to put some bright reflections over the dark parts as soon as the darkness brings balance in the painting. As I think about how to paint light effects I have to admit that it's not about how to paint the light, but more about how to paint the darkness. Amazing
I haven't even finished the entire video yet. But I'm already loving this!! Perhaps he is in the league of Joseph zbukvich and Michal jasewicz!!
W😊w !!! , Good news ,I look forward to breief explanations ( Arts) about the theme to be forwarded so that we can once again appreciate your excellent admirable Work, thanksyou, Very much, details 👍🏆🎇❤️
Appreciate your Works-inspiration eu Very much, details Thanksyou -creative --Titus Meeuws Painter 👍🙏🎉🎇🏆
I couldn’t agree more. It’s Jennie just switched my handle is all.😊
Bravo Titus, I admire your diligence and passion. Greetings from Russia
I was glad when you got back inside far to noisy for me
I’m currently reading The Creative Act and remember your commentary on it. Today you commented on what you like and the difference you see in plein air and studio work; and I’m glad you might not give up on your recent plein air piece. I hope we get to see the challenge that might present, even if in your eyes it fails. I’m also glad you explained the blurriness which was purposeful and its contribution to your painting.
A really enjoyable video. I would like to know the colours in your watercolour palette Titus.
Super area and what a sublime way of working indeed. I would have felt comfortable with the culture too😊😊
Thanks 🙏🙏🙏
Helin del Castillo, ❤today I couldn't paint , 🎨 I love everything about paint you videos are Art is so genial, you made it that day .this real art , traditional .
That last government building painting looks really incredible. It shows that you are truly in the zone in your studio. Great job! Will this painting be offered as a full video in the msmber section? It would be nice to see the whole process.
I love the reaction of people. I would be very interested to know exactly what the lady said, it's a shame it wasn't translated. Please paint outside more if that were possible :)
You went a different direction than I was expecting! Enjoyed it as always, thank you.
I would like to paint outside again. Do it while you can.
I think it's best to take a photo and make your work in your studio. We live in a different century now :)
i was just talking to my self saying Titus will show up it is Friday ,and there you were 1st up in my you tube channel ,thank you i always feel inspired when you talk
Taking a risk and adding a comment before watching the video past you setting up. :D I would think painting outside would be more difficult due to the changing light, movement of people, vehicles, etc. and general distractions. Now on to the video!
First to comment. You are the best!
i love your videos, sometimes i rewatch them . thanks for the "apreciation" of the Panda. Saluti from Italy
Thank you for your great shares ❤ The underpainting dried for a day? And from there you paint alla prima? How many days and hours per days have you worked on it? Kindest Hello from Zurich ❤
I love this world ...when you sit back and paint
Thank you for your words of inspiration.
Beautiful artistry. Thanks for sharing
Hi there nice to hear from you again.
Same thing my piano coach says.
So excited for this! 👏
Wise advice, thank you.
Your video editing and filtering is top notch. Do you edit yourself ?
Thank you for allowing us into your studio space.
Love your work have been watching for quite some time. The nagging question I had though this is not a criticism, just an observation. How on Earth do you find anything in your studio? It's like you need an assistant to help clean up. I know you're really busy. I suspect that's really the reason. What are your thoughts on how organized a studio needs to be?
I'd love to know what online venue Suzan uses for her auctions.
I have framed many watercolors without glass in fact many watercolorists are doing it now, you spray it first like what you got then brush acrylic varnish on it. I like to mount it to a board first such as birch plywood or gator board. Some artist just brush the acrylic varnish on without the spray. They say as long as it's good and dry, use a soft brush in it will be ok.
Wow!!! Creative inspiration, Very good Work admirable painting perfectly New painter really, beautiful unique 🕊️👑🙏👍👍❤
The tree you painted in the opening segment was perfect. Watching you paint the leaves and white highlights filled me with so much happiness. It’s things like this that make me keep returning for more techniques, insights to your process as well as your thoughts on why you love being an artist. Your line from another recent video was, “I [enjoy]…finding the extraordinary in the ordinary,” really hit home with me. It’s the reason why Andrew Wyeth has always been my all-time favorite artist. The details and the play of light and earth tones in his watercolors and tempera paintings of Maine and Pennsylvania literally give me goosebumps. Thanks for all the effort and love you obviously put into making your wonderful videos. Sincerely.
I have a question: How do you make that beautiful muddy effect?
My emI discovered your channel one day while watching UA-cam. I’ve enjoyed your method and narration. I’m hoping to start painting myself.
I love this new series of paintings, and how you use your rigger in so many different ways. Do you use more than one size of rigger? On a lighter note, I must (respectfully) ask, does the fringe from your scarf ever interfere with your work? LOL🤣
I would like to see a reaction from your clients when they come to see the finished painting and what about the first meeting when they explain what they have in mind it should be possible now you have a good cameraman
Awesome...thank you for great presentation....
As always it's amazing to see how you master the water and paint. But what i find most amazing is how consistent the quality of your artwork is, how calm you always seem te be. The state of mind you have, the focus and patience. Of all things i admire most your mental stability and discipline. I paint a lot yet there are days am incapable of finding that calmness. Apart from a lack of education (am an amateur with no artschool) its mostly a lack of inner peace that bothers me. I can feel insecure at times, or distracted or just not calm enough. And painting while someone is watching, i can't. Your video's do feel like a meditation, it's very calming. And how beautiful you paint some of my favorite streets in amsterdam. Thank you.
I am pleased with your message Titusmeeuws, which filled us with enthusiasm to explore more interesting and historical place in the reality of demonstrating that we can move forward is New and eve challenging in terms of inspirations and creative details , Thanksyou,Very much, Titus Meeuws Talented!!🎨🖌️❤🇧🇷👍
As always, I enjoy watching you paint and hearing what you have to say about the painting. Aside from your sessions where you paint portraits of other artists with them, you seem to work in isolation. Do you belong to any watercolor organizations? Do you go plein air painting with other artists as part of a group? Do you have friends who are watercolor painters? Do you do shows with other painters? I hope you don’t mind these questions.
